I wrote a First Aid article last week recapping the potential dangers of tipping over a cup of instant noodles and the burn damage they can cause especially to children. NPR did a piece on this that caught my attention in 2011 and since then, little has been done in the way of cup design, first aid awareness and parent awareness. I think everyone should be aware of the potential first aid dangers here and be able to make some really easy adjustments to put an end to this problem.
There are two factors with these noodle soups that make them potentially dangerous. Just two issues. They are as follows:
Noodles stay hot longer, and stick to skin.
The cups in which they are served are too easily tipped over.
Everyone wants their soup to be hot, so – just take the contents out of the questionable packaging and put it into a bowl that won’t tip easily. The problem is solved with out taking a CPR/AED and First Aid class – yes – that was a free first Aid class right there.
