Georgia CPR offers AED Training Classes through Medic First Aid international, American Heart Association and through The National Safety Council.
CPR Classes in Atlanta should always include the use of an AED.
What is AED Training?
AED is of course an acronym for Automated External Defibrillator, which is a device that corrects a deadly heart rhythm called ventricular fibrillation. This deadly rhythm is responsible for the #1 cause of death in the United States, sudden cardiac death (SCD). AED training classes are taught to make the public, and your co-workers aware that with the use of an AED, the chances of survival from SCD can be increased from a mere 5% to up to about 50%!
In our AED Training classes, we empower our students' comfort with the 5 links in The American Heart Association's "Chain of Survival". They are as follows:
- Early access to 911
- Early access to quality CPR
- Early use of an AED
- Early access to EMS
- Quick access to care at hospital.
AED Training Classes should always emphasize The American Heart Association's recommendation that in an emergency, the faster we call 911, the faster we start CPR if needed, the faster we use an AED, the better the outcome. EMS and hospitalization naturally occurs if these first three steps are in place.
What Does the AED Training Cover?
AED Training classes are quite easy and straight forward. The course is recommended to be taught along with basic CPR, as your AED will instruct you to perform CPR after delivering a shock to the patient. This isn't necessary however. We are happy to come to you location and teach a short, informational, non-certification class as well. An AED Training class as a "lunch and learn" is a popular, interesting and potentially life saving topic.
Topics covered in our AED Training class include:
- Chain of Survival
- Adding the use of an AED to a CPR emergency
- Basic AED Operation
- Troubleshooting Defibrillator problems
- Other Considerations in AED use
