"I underwent renewal of BLS/ACLS last evening and I wanted to give some feedback. I have now been BLS, and/or ACLS certified for 12 yrs and have taken courses from many different instructors in that time. I have to say, though, that Ben Karp's group at GA-CPR was the best.
Ben's BLS instruction was well-tuned for his audience and, unlike previous instructors I've had, didn't downplay the importance of BLS skills. He clearly believes, as I do and as the scientific evidence supports, that good basic life support is the key to patient survival in both lay and professional settings. When trainees were not performing skills correctly he had the exact right tone in making recommendations -- he realized that he was dealing with educated professionals who may not do CPR, etc everyday, but who need to be treated with respect.
I have seen instructors belittle trainees in these settings before, or act as though the basics were a "waste of time." The nurses he brought in for ACLS instruction were excellent also and made sure that trainees understood the ACLS algorithms and the real world resuscitation. I think GME's choice of Georgia CPR was an excellent one, and I would recommend staying with them in the future.
Please let all who are involved in the decision-making know about the excellent job Ben has done."
Most sincerely,
